Regulators are utilised to ensure that the output of the solar panels provide the correct charging voltage and current to maintain the battery at the optimum state of charge. Regulators are available from 5 amp/12 volt DC up to 60 amps 120 volt DC.
When sizing a regulator, the Australian standard calls for a safety margin of 1.25 times the short circuit current of the solar panel array. This current can be found on the back of your panel marked as ISc.
We recommend and utilise Australian manufactured Plasmatronics that feature programmable charging parameters and a 30 day history log.
For enhanced efficiency we also utilise MPPT technolgy regulators from a number of suppliers
For simple straight forward systems the German Stecca brand has proven itself in hundreds of applications.
